Building and Backing Digital Ventures

We build and invest in digital businesses, with a particular focus on service-driven companies that scale through software, platforms, and AI.

We believe that successful businesses are created at the intersection of deep domain expertise, strong business models, data-informed decision making, and outstanding digital products. Our role is to bring software and product development experience, along with capital, to turn compelling ideas and industry expertise into scalable companies.

Since 2002, Key One has designed and developed digital products and platforms for a wide range of service businesses. Today, we increasingly operate as a venture partner, co-building companies, supporting growth, and investing alongside founders and domain experts, with a particular focus on healthcare and other high-tech, service-oriented sectors.

Past Project

Patient Recruitment in Clinical Trials

In 2006, Key One began developing a patient recruitment portal for clinical trials in Berlin for the newly founded company Clariness. The platform quickly proved successful and laid the foundation for Clariness’ growth.

Over the following years, Clariness evolved into a leading international provider of patient recruitment services, working with many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.

Until 2019, Key One not only developed the ClinLife platform but also covered business continuity, regulatory and compliance requirements, platform reliability, security, and the overall product and technology strategy.

This long-term growth culminated in a highly successful exit in 2025, when Clariness merged with Trialbee.

Past Project

Drugless Alternatives in VR

Deep Rewire developed a digital therapy platform focused on non-pharmacological virtual reality (VR) treatments for pain management. The goal was to deliver patient-centric, drug-free therapies to support recovery and address unmet medical needs. The company’s primary focus was an immersive guided-imagery VR therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. Operations ceased in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the initiation of clinical validation.

Debt Collection for Telecoms

Since its inception, Key One has provided the technology backbone for Pro Inkasso through a specialized debt collection software platform serving predominantly telecom and credit card companies. As Pro Inkasso evolved and specialized in the management of loss certificates, the platform remained at the core of operations. Today, the entire business runs on a single, highly efficient, fully integrated system.

Past Project

Cinema Advertising Transformation

Together with Cinecom, a European leader in cinema advertising, Key One developed and launched one of the very first digital cinema advertising platforms and distribution networks. The platform managed the placement and distribution of fully digital, fully online pre-show and display cinema advertising to nearly all Swiss cinemas, completely replacing physical celluloid. At launch, it was the largest digital cinema distribution network in the world.

Past Project

Supporting Children with Developmental Challenges

One of the first projects Key One worked on was to develop and operate the Pro Infantibus donation platform, one of the first online donor-management platforms in Switzerland. Pro Infantibus was a non-profit organization supporting children with development disabilities and in particular growth impairment, working very closely with the Children's Hospital of the University Hospital of Zurich. Key One is extremely proud to have supported this effort until the organization was incorporated into the Children’s Hospital.
